DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND
(MSKUS)

Noninvasive, real-time imaging, observing
structures at rest and in motion.

Ultrasounds are a common medical imaging exam used to get a clear picture of structures in your body. This test uses high frequency sound waves transmitted through a handheld device to examine different depths of soft tissue to examine areas of concern.

A Musculoskeletal (MSK) Ultrasound is a specialized exam that looks specifically at your muscles and joints. A medial professional certified in this specialty (e.g. RMSK) has ample training in obtaining and interpreting images of muscles, nerves, ligaments and tendons to determine if they are normal or not.

Some examples include diagnoses of joint swelling, long bone fractures, tendon injury, retained foreign body, and other soft tissue masses.
